The new burley tobacco variety YNBS1 was developed by cross-breeding of MSTN90 and Ky907. Through provincial evaluation trials, national wide trials, production demonstration trials, and quality evaluation, the results showed that YBNS1 could grow vigorously and regularly with compact shape and uniform agronomic characters. It had 50-55 days of seedling stage and 95-98 days of field growth period. YNBS1 matured homogeneously, it could be cured easily, and had good tolerance to abundant fertilizers and wide adaptability. It showed resistance to TMV and black shank, moderate resistance to root knot and sensitive to brown spot. The yield, value, average price and the high grade cured leaf of YNBS1 in demonstration plots, compared to control plots, increased by 1.63%-8.63%, 4.43%-12.54%, 0.23-0.27yuan/kg, 2.70%-3.70%, respectively. With favorable appearance quality, chemical components and smoking quality, YNBS1, with regard to agricultural economic benefit and industry usability, is very promising.
