The damage of heavy metal to seed germination, growth and development, quality and physiology and biochemistry of tobacco were reviewed, and the influencing factors of heavy metal accumulation, including soil, pollution, and tobacco genotype, were discussed. Following the discussion on the current control methods, including soil remediation, agronomic practice, genotype improvement, and transgenic technology, further control countmeasures were suggested.
