According to five year test results from 7 provinces (Liaoning, Shandong, Henan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Fujian, and Yunnan), including 12 counties, all of the bases of Shanghai tobacco (group) corporation were classified as five ecological styles in terms of ecological conditions for tobaccoproduction, plant growth, and quality characteristics oftobacco leaves. The five ecological styles are: low-lat.-high-altitude-mountainYunnan Flue-cured tobacco style, low-lat.-mid-altitude-mountain-hill Guizhou flue-cured tobacco style, low-lat.-lowaltitude-low-hill Fujian flue-cured tobacco style, mid-lat.-low-altitude-plain-hill Yulu flue-cured tobacco style, and high-lat.-low-altitude-plain-hill Liaoning flue-cured tobacco style. The ecological conditions, the growth characteristics of the tobacco plant, and the quality characteristic of tobacco leaf were also described in detail.
