Effects of Long-term Green Manures Application on Growth and Economic Traits of Flue-cured Tobacco

A field experiment was conducted in 3 consecutive years to study the effect of different green manure varieties application on growth and economic traits of flue-cured tobacco. The purpose was to screen suitable green manure varieties in Xiangxi. The results showed that the agronomic traits could be improved after consecutive turnover of green manure. The yield and market value could be increased by 6.82%-20.47%, 6.94%-19.27%, respectively. The positive effects of green manure turnover on plant height, stem girth, maximum leaf width, fine tobacco ratio, average price, yield and output value increased with years of green manure application. The beneficial effects of common vetch and common ryegrass were the best, with tobacco yield increased by 17.82% and 20.47%, the tobacco market value increased by 17.21% and 19.27%, respectively. The best green manure variety was common vetch in Xiangxi.
